"Recording 2"
The rhythm recording is finished, and guitar recording started today.
Picture.
This time I have more guitars and amps than usual, and I am also preparing many effectors.
It’s a recording where I’m working on producing the sounds that are echoing in my head, while also making the new sound I’m searching for.
It takes time and work, but when I find the sound that I’m looking for, and when I’m able to record a take that we can agree on, it gets to the point that even that kind of struggle can be written off, and I’m happy.
Today I finished one song. A beautiful and delicate-sounding guitar part was recorded.
Tomorrow will also be guitar recording.

WARNING: Some of my English translations are very sketchy. My Japanese is far from fluent (in other words, bad), and I would appreciate any corrections. The romaji should be correct. Any English or Katakana words are written in CAPS LOCK in the romaji. Please don't post these translations anywhere else, because I go back to fix them from time to time and I don't want old versions floating around.

"Recording"
Recording is coming along well.
Today while I’m making music I’m thinking about the guitar’s phrase.
Picture.
I take this amp’s picture every time we’re recording. Its appearance is exactly the same, but if the vacuum tubes inside Marshall amps change, the sound is also changed quite a bit. It’s a good feeling.
And so, after tomorrow more and more recording will begin. We’ll start with the rhythm.
During this time we’ll also be caught up in things like playing lives, but because we’ve got more time than usual scheduled, we’re going to take our time with recording.
It’s the beginning of a long recording.

“Peacefully in the middle of recording”
NCIS is in the middle of recording.
And so, today I’m in the midst of recording my guitar parts.
These are the guitars prepared for this time. I’ll also be trying out new ones.
Picture
And here are my effectors. There are lots for distortion and delay. Those two things are definitely interesting.

We’ll continue recording in a little while.

“Still More”
We’ve been in the middle of recording for a while.
The guitar recording was safely finished, and today we’re putting things like synthesizer sounds into the songs and doing the last phrase check.
In this kind of break as well, we’re doing things like making new songs, rehearsing for lives and NCIS is pushing forward into the future.
And so today, on our new HP a new live video of “Falling Peaces”* has been uploaded. Definitely, please try to watch it.
Today as well, the four of us are in the studio.
Notes:
*Ubu-san’s spelling of English song titles seems a little sketchy. He’s close, but he always seems to be just a little off. It’s kind of cute.

“NEW Equipment”
Since we finished the first stage of live performances, we’d been spending some time on production. Finishing up making new music again feels good.
And so, today we checked our equipment in the studio.
-Picture-
Since Yoshii-san’s tour will also start from next month, in order to support him as well I tried to test out my various new equipment and add it to my gear. It seems like my effectors have increased a bit more. As a result, I’m a little worried that it won’t fit into my board, but YAMAJUN is supposed to do it for me somehow later.
While we will also be checking our gear tomorrow, it’s studio work.*
Notes:
*Maybe he means something like “It’s part of the job” ?

Ubu-san is the king of enormous, wordy sentences, but this one is kind of cute.

“Flower & Powerlight Tour 2011 ~born again~”
Yoshii Kazuya-san’s tour has started.
Picture
The Sapporo and Sendai shows are done. There were a lot of things that I experienced for the first time, and also uneasiness, but now when I try to play a live I’ve gotten to the point where I feel almost as though we’ve been playing together for a very long time, so I’m really having fun and I can perform onstage.
Nevertheless, as one would expect, it’s Yoshii-san and the original members’ stage.* Even though I’m a newcomer, I’m still proud enough to say that, if it’s this band, I predict that we’re going to keep getting better on this tour.** However, I can honestly say that this is a great band. Tomorrow is Chiba Prefecture’s cultural centre.
Ah, and these finally arrived today.
Picture.
My picks.
I had the pick’s thickness and hardness redone many times, and now it’s finally perfect; it’s an obsessive person’s pick.*** I’d been using plain ones for a while, but the design that was printed on these is perfect.
I’ll use them during the lives starting from tomorrow. Tomorrow as well, from the beginning to the end, I’ll devote myself completely to playing the guitar.
Notes:
*, ** I don't know about these sentences. The second one especially.
***He says "It's my obsession's/pickiness's pick". Maybe something like "It's a pick born from my obsessiveness." would communicate that better?

“Tour Rehearsal”
Rehearsal for Yoshii Kazuya-san’s tour is beginning.
With things like events with Yoshii-san, I had the opportunity to work together with him, but this is my first time participating as a tour member.
I’m being supported by the undulating groove of the band members’ steady performance, and while that helps, I’m determined to practice every day. Even if I do, every day is stimulating and, therefore, it’s fun. I feel like time is passing in the blink of an eye. There are another six days left before the first day of the tour, but I'm practicing now anyway.*
This is the studio after the end of rehearsal.
*Picture.*
This is the roadie duo of Jun and Junpei playing my guitars. They’re close friends.
So then, NCIS also has a few lives to announce for next year.
In December and January of next year will be NCIS’s “Hand in Hand” event. The first time around will be in Sendai with 9mm, and we’ll play the second with the band apart in Nagoya. Both are bands that we always try to play lives with. Right now, I'm really looking forward to it.
Now then, rehearsal for Yoshii-san will continue tomorrow as well.
Notes:
*I'm not positive about that last bit. Original Japanese is: 今はとにかく練習です。

“Thank You”
Today, the “echo” tour* finished at Shinkiba Studio Coast.
It was a wonderful final.
Being my usual tongue-tied self, during the live I couldn’t really say my feelings well, but to everyone that came to today’s Shinkiba live, and to everyone who participated in this tour, to all of you, from my heart; thank you. Honestly, thank you!
We’re making the music we love, and in general that’s a sort of crazy thing to do, but because there are lots of people that feel something from it and do things like listen to us and come to our lives, we are truly blessed and I think I want to do the final we finished today all over again. And so, it seems likely that there will also be more to come in the future.
Even though the tour is over, for the time being NCIS will enter a period of production**. More and more, we’re going to be thinking of creating music that will honestly reflect our feelings and resound in peoples’ hearts.
Ah, since we will occasionally appear at events and things like that, we will have lives. NCIS’s HP has the details. From now on as well, please take care of me!
Notes:
*I think it was actually called the "Tour echo" tour, but that sounds a little awkward
**I assume this means working on new music

Dec. 7, 2012 - Another Song
Today I finished recording the guitar for another new song.
...(<- sentence I didn't understand)
It's a luxurious style of recording, but I get to really focus on each song, which feels good. Although, I don't think you guys will be able to listen to it for a while. Wait for it!
Also, Yoshii Kazuya-san's tour is starting up again.
Today is this person.
Picture
The bassist, Jungo-san.
If you include his hair, he's almost 190 cm tall, so I tried to take the picture using perspective. Because if we stood next to each other I'd look like a kid.
Jungo-san also plays with PETROLZ. He's a bassist with a natural, heavy, wicked groove. He's got the evil feel you need for rock.
Combined with Kichida-san from Napolitans as well, he's perfect.* Our rhythm section is an inpenetrable fortress.
Tomorrow will be a .HEARTS tour show in Fukuyama.

It's strange to think they've only been around for 4 years. So much good music in such a short time. <3
Holy crap at the length of that second sentence, though. Ubu-san really does not seem to like using periods.
"And so, from here"
The Silver Sun Tour has ended.
This time we played 19 shows in a month and a half, which was our tightest schedule ever, so it really seemed like the tour went by in the blink of an eye. Our attention to maintaining our physical conditioning was just as tight, but even during such a short time, because of the members, the staff and days we spent on discussions to make our shows better, because we were able to spread our music to and have a wide variety of give-and-take experiences with fans from all over the country, and because now we’ve been able to convey the entirety of the current NCIS with all our strength, because of all that, it was a deeply fulfilling tour.
It’s been exactly four years since the band was formed.
We go around the country like this every year, and the fact that at each place lots of people are waiting for us makes me truly happy.
To everyone who participated in the tour, sincerely, thank you!
Picture
From now on as well, please treat me well.
And so, and so, with that tour finished, NCIS will start working on new music.
From now on we’re planning to take our time and carefully work on making new songs that we’ve been imagining.
Picture
For now, I’m going to be in this room again for a while, staring at this screen.

July 18, 2012: Pride
"Pride" is NCIS's second single.
The date was changed and it was released today, July 18th.
Definitely, please try to listen to it!
[Picture]
Furthermore, although it's not the whole thing, the PV is also available on NCIS' HP.
We were able to make a video that synchronizes the music and the outlook of the song.
Please also try to watch it.
Now then, besides that I've also been doing things like magazine and radio interviews, and as usual I'm very busy. Even if it's just one person, I'm hoping to get more people to listen to NCIS's music, so I'm promoting it.
Also, I've gradually begun rehearsing in anticipation of playing live. For now, before the four of us can play together, I'm rehearsing on my own. For now, I'm playing my guitar wildly.
