blog translations: DAISUKE (THE SOUND BEE HD)

Grouping these together now, because it's easier and why not. Daisuke's blog gets a little TMI sometimes, but I find the directness of it kind of refreshing.

A young photo showed uuup >_<

So yooung~
This is from 20 years ago (lol)

My head is orange, so it's from my first trip to Los Angeles

I was so thiiiin~
And my skin was so smooth~

Youth is an asset, isn't it?

Still,
Since I'm happy now,
I'm not thinking that I want to go back in time or anything, but

I do hate the way that my head feels like it's just constantly being filled with more and more stress

Still, time won't wait for you

One time, in those days,
I suddenly decided that I wanted to commit suicide.
I ran and jumped from the rooftop of a 10-storey building.

But,

I fell on top of a car.

I got away with a sprained leg and whiplash in my neck.
Aside from feeling like I was crippled when I went home, it was almost like nothing happened.

I went home laughing.

I was laughing the whole time.
Always.

(**line I don't get**)
...

I really just don't die.

My heart stopped from bad doping three times.

I fell from a building twice.

My car rolled over once.

I got swept away by a typhoon wave once.

A gun was held to my head once in America.

I fell off my motorcycle going 160 kilos once and slammed into some trees by a dry river bed.

I was stabbed* in Harajuku twice, and I was saved because I had an iron plate in my leather jacket (lol)

I had a cardiac arrest while I was getting a contrast study of my coronary artery once.

And I had two surgeries to remove my intestines with a pretty low survival rate.

I wonder if I have a death wish?
Too bad. (lol)

I don't know if God has a plan for me, or if he's keeping me alive, but

Well, somehow, I think so**

I won't forget to be grateful.

Maybe he's not doing anything (lol)***

I don't know, but

Now, I'm really happy.

Even if I'm laughing a bit bitterly now.****

Third Day in the Hospital

Sorry for making you guys worry.
Seems like they haven't decided if I need surgery.
There's a 140 cm tube coming out of my nose, and it goes all the way to my insides.
It's sucking out stuff from inside, but the part that's hanging from my nose down my throat is annoying. I'm in a lot of pain, so at first I was getting painkillers in my IV, but they didn't agree with me. My laboured breathing and sweating got really bad, so they stopped the painkillers quick. It took a while to recover from that. Now I just have a headache and nausea. But I'll keep trying my best.

Today is THE SOUND BEE HD's live in Osaka.
I'm truly sorry that I can't go.
It's so frustrating. I apologize.
I can't stand on the stage, but my band members are gonna do the show and they're not going to lose to the other bands.
I'm really just grateful for that.
Thanks.
I'm going to keep doing my best to get out of here soon.

Shiishiishiishii

I bit my tongue!

I was worried about getting another intestinal obstruction, so I was chewing my food really carefully, and then I heard a crunching noise.

It's a blood-flavoured salad. (lol)

Went and Came Back

I was bleeding from my rectum, so I went to the hospital.

Thankfully it wasn't anything severe.

I'm going to keep fighting as hard as I can so we can do this one-man properly.

I'm just praying everything work out.

Release date set!

I can leave the hospital today!

The schedule to recover from this intestinal obstruction took about two weeks.
Starting with nothing to eat or drink, then gradually moving back up to solid food.

It's a good thing I got better quickly.

But the scary thing is that this might keep happening again and again if I'm not careful.

Well, time to get ready to make my escape.

Let's eat

Lunch came.

I love rice, but this kind of thing is the easiest way to get another blockage.

If I don't chew my food until my jaw hurts, I might end up back at the starting point again and end up prolonging my hospital stay.

Chewing carefully, carefully...

Make me stop crying

Thank you everyone.
Kakeru, Roqusama Carta, and of course THE SOUND BEE HD's guitarist Yuu.*

Somehow, it seems like all I'm doing is crying
It hurts so I'm crying
I'm scared so I"m crying
I'm pitiful so I'm crying
I'm saved so I'm crying
I'm being cared for so I'm crying
And my labelmates and other bands at the event are cheering me on so I'm crying

When I read messages from my band members who've put up with all this, I start crying

I'm just crying all the time

Now, the progress of the illness has stopped
So next up will be fighting any complications from the surgery and preventing infections
Then rehabilitation, and trying to hold onto my physical disability certificate
From now on, I'm going to be fighting for the rest of my life
But I won't lose.
I won't give up.
Because even if it's a small chance, it's possible.

Because you guys are there.

One day, I'm going to take my voice back
So until the day I can return,.

Wait for me everyone, okay?

This shinigami will keep fighting now as well

I loooooooooove you guys, and my band members

*This was posted after the Starwave Records session event Daisuke was supposed to be a part of. Because he wasn't able to perform, Kakeru (Scarlet Valse), Kagerou (Syokudaikakkokai), Iori (Magistina Saga) and Rui (Misaruka) filled in for him during his session. He mentions these three names in particular because they posted pictures on Twitter to cheer him up. The image attached to this entry shows pics Kakeru and Roqusama Carta took of messages they wrote on their face and hands to show their support for Daisuke during the concert.

No good, no good, no good!

What is this?!

I weigh 43kg! (◎_◎;)

At first, I was a 157cm, 60kg gorilla-macho
I looked like a beaten up old wrestler,
So I decided that I had to lose weight,
And I managed to squeeze down to 55kg around June.
I was planning to keep pushing myself with dieting and exercise until around 50kg.

This is ridiculous.

I can't run at 43kg.

Feed me ice cream and choooooocolate
What's going on, am I going to die?*

When I was at my absolute fattest, the worst snacking I did was ...**

That's bad, isn't it?

Well, I need something like chocolate potato chips to fatten back up

Iya~
Even though I've lost weight,
I have more wrinkles now, and my strength is gone.
I need to gain a little weight, so the wrinkles will go away and I'll look young again

Even though I'm 45, a police officer seriously interrogated me recently because he thought my license was forged. But now I look about 80, don't I? (lol)

Well, whatever, it's fine for a shinigami.

Not being onstage is the only thing that's really getting to me

Even if I have to do it with a cane, I'm going to shout, headbang and jump around (lol)

But the main thing is singing
Since it might sound different***

Annnnnyway,
I'm a shinigami! Today as well, I'm living!
No one here is crying, right?
Today as well, your pain and the pain from the complications from my illness, let's take them away!

I'll keep fighting

Today as well, I love you guys.

Don't give in to the heat!

http://simplog.jp/pub/22431476/32

*I don't really know how to read this. He's joking around, as far as I can tell?
**I have no idea what the rest of this part says. I think he's just talking about his bad eating habits.
***I'm not sure about this

Kiwamu-shachou* came to visit!

It's really dangerous right now, so I wasn't allowed to have visitors,
But Kiwamu-shachou is an exception.
I wanted to talk to him.

First of all, he gave me this.
Starwave Omnibus vol. 4!
I was really happy.
For five years, we've been working together.
I went from being limited to being part of a company.
When I was getting nowhere with my band and living in obscurity,
He gave me a ray of light.

He's the man who gave my life a purpose again.

I think his name shows that we were destined to meet too.

Kiwamu Kai.**

Without him, the life I'm living wouldn't have been possible.

And, since I believe that there aren't very many people around here right now with his foresight, strategic approach and attention to detail, I immediately wanted to join up with him.

I have some foresight too, and I believed in him.

All of this has been heading towards the world we've imagined.

I can't forget the time I was with Extacy Records.
I'm happy I was able to stand on the same stage as both LUNA SEA and X JAPAN.
hide-san was also there. Toshi-san ...**
I felt like it gave my existence a purpose****
The after parties got messsssy (lol)

So, I want to be part of a label like that again and help form a scene
I want to help raise young stars and create a new festival in Japan

I believe that Kiwamu-shachou is indispensable for that
I believe that he is the type of person who can do it,
So I'm following him wholeheartedly
We've joined forces, and I'll keep going with my activities as an artist

Now, two Starwave artists are playing one-man lives at Shinjuku ReNY.
And, bands signed to the label have grown to the point that they can play one-mans.

Since everyone is truly doing their best and doing things like passing out flyers,*****
It doesn't seem impossible******
Positive things are happening*******
It's amazing

I don't know if it's happening slow or fast, but the label is growing steadily

My prediction was right.

I've been confined to a bed by illness, but my labelmates, my band members and Kiwamu-shachou have all given me rays of light.

That's why I'm definitely going to get better.
I want to make a comeback.

I want to see everyone.

All of this light surrounding me.
You guys.
I love you.
I'm not going to lose.
Until the end, until the very end.
I won't give up.

Thank you, Kiwamu-shachou

I'm definitely coming back.

Let's make our dreams come true!

**Kiwamu's name translates to something like "The result of study"? I'm not really sure how to read it at all, but the idea here is that it's something that made Daisuke think that they were destined to meet at that point in his life.

Check this out!

It looks like someone uploaded this picture to Twitter?
So thiiiiin!

I absolutely don't want to go back to the past or anything, but I do want to go back to being thinner.

I wonder if the only way I can do that is by going to something like RIZAP?*

This picture is from around 20 years ago.
I must have been 22? Maybe 23?

This brought back some memories.
It was fun to think about them.

And this too!

So thiiin!

And in those jeans!

My cheeks were hollow.

At that time, my waist was probably not even as big as my head.
It was like 24 inches.
Around 52 cm. >_<
My weight was like 39 kilos too.

If I went back to that weight now, I'd definitely die.

Good Evening

I went to see LIV'ERT's one-man at Ikebukuro EDGE.

It inspired me to keep trying hard.

The person who made and designed our costumes is the same, Mira-san* ^-^

Since the quality of her work is really high, I think she's such an artist.

As a designer, she's always more than faithful to the decadent world I want to create.

LIV'ERT's costumes are cool too.
I wonder if she'll make costumes for me again next year.

Hibiki from Calmando Qual.

Both our height and physiques are similar.

His nose piercing is on the opposite side from mine,
So if we stood facing each other it'd be kinda like a mirror.

Hibiking is a true son of Kyushu.**

Note:
*Hibiki + king.
**I was surprised that there is actually a kanji combination for this (九州男児 - kyuushuu danji), but this apparently refers to a stereotypical image of Kyushu men being virile, rough and heavy drinkers. I assume it's a compliment in this case, since he's saying they've both got the same sort of stocky, manly build.

I'm really happy.

If I had a child when I was around 20, I wonder if he would be around Kazuha's age...

If I was in the same band as my son, fighting with him and making music together...
I wonder if it would feel like this?

Well, he's a support member, but he shows me more work than a support member normally would,
And I'm always grateful to him.

"Recording 2"

The rhythm recording is finished, and guitar recording started today.

Picture.

This time I have more guitars and amps than usual, and I am also preparing many effectors.
It’s a recording where I’m working on producing the sounds that are echoing in my head, while also making the new sound I’m searching for.

It takes time and work, but when I find the sound that I’m looking for, and when I’m able to record a take that we can agree on, it gets to the point that even that kind of struggle can be written off, and I’m happy.
Today I finished one song. A beautiful and delicate-sounding guitar part was recorded.

Tomorrow will also be guitar recording.

"Recording"

Recording is coming along well.
Today while I’m making music I’m thinking about the guitar’s phrase.

Picture.

I take this amp’s picture every time we’re recording. Its appearance is exactly the same, but if the vacuum tubes inside Marshall amps change, the sound is also changed quite a bit. It’s a good feeling.

And so, after tomorrow more and more recording will begin. We’ll start with the rhythm.
During this time we’ll also be caught up in things like playing lives, but because we’ve got more time than usual scheduled, we’re going to take our time with recording.
It’s the beginning of a long recording.

NCIS is in the middle of recording.
And so, today I’m in the midst of recording my guitar parts.

These are the guitars prepared for this time. I’ll also be trying out new ones.

And here are my effectors. There are lots for distortion and delay. Those two things are definitely interesting.

We’ll continue recording in a little while.

“Still More”

We’ve been in the middle of recording for a while.
The guitar recording was safely finished, and today we’re putting things like synthesizer sounds into the songs and doing the last phrase check.

In this kind of break as well, we’re doing things like making new songs, rehearsing for lives and NCIS is pushing forward into the future.

And so today, on our new HP a new live video of “Falling Peaces”* has been uploaded. Definitely, please try to watch it.

Today as well, the four of us are in the studio.

Notes:
*Ubu-san’s spelling of English song titles seems a little sketchy. He’s close, but he always seems to be just a little off. It’s kind of cute.

“NEW Equipment”

Since we finished the first stage of live performances, we’d been spending some time on production. Finishing up making new music again feels good.

And so, today we checked our equipment in the studio.

-Picture-

Since Yoshii-san’s tour will also start from next month, in order to support him as well I tried to test out my various new equipment and add it to my gear. It seems like my effectors have increased a bit more. As a result, I’m a little worried that it won’t fit into my board, but YAMAJUN is supposed to do it for me somehow later.

While we will also be checking our gear tomorrow, it’s studio work.*

“Flower & Powerlight Tour 2011 ~born again~”

Yoshii Kazuya-san’s tour has started.

Picture

The Sapporo and Sendai shows are done. There were a lot of things that I experienced for the first time, and also uneasiness, but now when I try to play a live I’ve gotten to the point where I feel almost as though we’ve been playing together for a very long time, so I’m really having fun and I can perform onstage.

Nevertheless, as one would expect, it’s Yoshii-san and the original members’ stage.* Even though I’m a newcomer, I’m still proud enough to say that, if it’s this band, I predict that we’re going to keep getting better on this tour.** However, I can honestly say that this is a great band. Tomorrow is Chiba Prefecture’s cultural centre.

Ah, and these finally arrived today.

Picture.

My picks.

I had the pick’s thickness and hardness redone many times, and now it’s finally perfect; it’s an obsessive person’s pick.*** I’d been using plain ones for a while, but the design that was printed on these is perfect.

I’ll use them during the lives starting from tomorrow. Tomorrow as well, from the beginning to the end, I’ll devote myself completely to playing the guitar.

Notes:
*, ** I don't know about these sentences. The second one especially.
***He says "It's my obsession's/pickiness's pick". Maybe something like "It's a pick born from my obsessiveness." would communicate that better?

“Tour Rehearsal”

Rehearsal for Yoshii Kazuya-san’s tour is beginning.

With things like events with Yoshii-san, I had the opportunity to work together with him, but this is my first time participating as a tour member.

I’m being supported by the undulating groove of the band members’ steady performance, and while that helps, I’m determined to practice every day. Even if I do, every day is stimulating and, therefore, it’s fun. I feel like time is passing in the blink of an eye. There are another six days left before the first day of the tour, but I'm practicing now anyway.*

This is the studio after the end of rehearsal.

*Picture.*
This is the roadie duo of Jun and Junpei playing my guitars. They’re close friends.
So then, NCIS also has a few lives to announce for next year.

In December and January of next year will be NCIS’s “Hand in Hand” event. The first time around will be in Sendai with 9mm, and we’ll play the second with the band apart in Nagoya. Both are bands that we always try to play lives with. Right now, I'm really looking forward to it.

Now then, rehearsal for Yoshii-san will continue tomorrow as well.

“Thank You”

Today, the “echo” tour* finished at Shinkiba Studio Coast.

It was a wonderful final.

Being my usual tongue-tied self, during the live I couldn’t really say my feelings well, but to everyone that came to today’s Shinkiba live, and to everyone who participated in this tour, to all of you, from my heart; thank you. Honestly, thank you!

We’re making the music we love, and in general that’s a sort of crazy thing to do, but because there are lots of people that feel something from it and do things like listen to us and come to our lives, we are truly blessed and I think I want to do the final we finished today all over again. And so, it seems likely that there will also be more to come in the future.

Even though the tour is over, for the time being NCIS will enter a period of production**. More and more, we’re going to be thinking of creating music that will honestly reflect our feelings and resound in peoples’ hearts.

Ah, since we will occasionally appear at events and things like that, we will have lives. NCIS’s HP has the details. From now on as well, please take care of me!

Notes:
*I think it was actually called the "Tour echo" tour, but that sounds a little awkward
**I assume this means working on new music

blog translation: YAMA-B's Ameba blog profile

Don't know how old this is, but I thought it was kind of funny that half of his answers involve the word "guitar", but there's no mention of singing.

Notes:
* S = Sadist, M = Masochist. In this context it usually just means are you eager to take charge and aggressive, or more passive and willing to let someone else lead you.
** Not "dead" in a literal sense, like people that aren't getting out there and making the most of their lives. It's probably easy enough to understand that, but I don't want people going "YAMA-B hates dead people?" or anything.

blog translation: Takano Tetsu - April 24, 2012

For anyone who doesn't know, Ikuzo Baba = the bassist from Dragon Ash.
R.I.P. IKUZONE.

April 24, 2012

I suddenly heard the news that someone passed away.
But I guess hearing of someone’s death is always sudden.
Shit.

I often used to drink with Ikuzo Baba.
Even though he was an older guy, he was a loveable, kind, eccentric man.
When we met up in a bar after a few years, he suddenly hugged me from behind and surprised me.
I remember being happy that he knew about my work.
After that, we met up at the same place to drink often.
Now that I think about it, when Kashimoto and Moro left nil, the first call I made was to Baba-san’s cell.
And he said “I have Dragon Ash, so I can’t help you out, but if I find a good guy, I’ll let you know.”
I’m remembering things like that steadily.
I wonder if the last place we drank together at was 井の頭通り沿い.*
Or maybe it was when he called me at around four in the morning and, when I thought “What the hell does he want to talk about?”, it ended up being a silly conversation.
Ah, did we go drinking in Ikebukuro after that?
I wonder which one was the last one?
Which one. Was the last moment we spent together?

That’s so lonely, isn’t it?

Baba-san,
I’m planning to keep you waiting for about 40 years, but,
Because we’ll definitely go there too, wait for us, okay?
Let’s drink together again.

Takano Tetsu.

Notes:
*I don't know how to read this, but it's just the name of a place, so I don't think it really matters.

blog translation: Muramatsu Taku - March 21, 2013

Haven't done one of these in a while. I tried to do one of Taku's before, but I find his writing hard to read since it uses a lot of expressions and exclamations and stuff like that. This is probably a little sketchy, but I left out the main part that I didn't understand.

March 21, 2013: Short Short Story

During a break from recording, I went on a short trip. To Nagoya, a bit of Osaka, Hiroshima, Kumamoto.

I saw the best smiling faces at lives, and went to drink with friends at night, and since a variety of things came to me I went back to my room and wrote lyrics.
It was so fulfilling.~
In all these unusual places, there were points where I was alone, and I’m terrible at going out alone, but since there were places that I wanted to go by myself, I walked. It was a good trip. Thank you.

And so, I’ve come back, and at the guitar recording I played a little, and wholeheartedly recorded one song.

Recently, I’ve been having a hard time controlling my emotions, and unintentionally getting a little too heated.*
I feel like if I can get past this I’ll be able to sing more. I’m not talking about just singing things like good songs, or songs that everyone will like, or songs with good steps or whatever, I mean feel like I can sing my own song. I think, I want to believe in myself.

I didn’t touch my blog, but I’ve stopped using Twitter. (**)

Here are some recent pictures.

Yhaaaaa!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes, when I feel like it, I’ll introduce a song that gives me strength.
This is my friend’s band, but please try to listen to it.

 yuey – “here we go”

blog translation: Suganami Eijun - Sept. 5, 2012

I only did the first half of this because I don't understand enough of the rest. Reading this made me feel a lot better about not getting what was going on in Symphonia, though. :)

Sept. 5, 2012 - “I have to express that I don’t know what I want to say”

The lyrics to “Symphonia” off Liv Squall are like a combination of scattered bits of about four songs’ lyrics. I decided to gather up phrases and try to form them into one set of lyrics.

That’s why it passes through space and time and goes in and out of phrases from different times in my life. For example, the phrase “An etude for my dying moment” came to me while I was watching the movie “Okuribito” in a theatre, while “the existence of a prodigious love that will overcome disaster” was inspired by a moment when I saw my friend’s child smiling.

Well, if you’re able to enjoy it, I’m happy.

Now then, today I’m talking about “things I want to say” and “words”. There was an interesting story in Tatsuru Uchida’s book “Konna Nihon de Yokatta ne”. ...

blog translation: Ubukata Shinichi - Dec. 7, 2012

Dec. 7, 2012 - Another Song

Today I finished recording the guitar for another new song.
...(<- sentence I didn't understand)
It's a luxurious style of recording, but I get to really focus on each song, which feels good. Although, I don't think you guys will be able to listen to it for a while. Wait for it!

Also, Yoshii Kazuya-san's tour is starting up again.
Today is this person.

Picture

The bassist, Jungo-san.

If you include his hair, he's almost 190 cm tall, so I tried to take the picture using perspective. Because if we stood next to each other I'd look like a kid.

Jungo-san also plays with PETROLZ. He's a bassist with a natural, heavy, wicked groove. He's got the evil feel you need for rock.
Combined with Kichida-san from Napolitans as well, he's perfect.* Our rhythm section is an inpenetrable fortress.

Tomorrow will be a .HEARTS tour show in Fukuyama.
